Abby Keith becomes UT first Cinema Studies major to graduate with honors

The Cinema Studies major at UT was first available to students in the 2015-16 academic year, and Abby Keith, daughter of Michelle and Mike Keith, officially became our first Cinema Studies major to graduate with honors when she stepped across the stage in December to receive her degree from Dean Teresa Lee of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Abby’s work included a creative Honors project in which she wrote a screenplay and an independent study in which she researched the fundamental differences between writing screenplays for film versus writing screenplays for fictional television programs.    She took a number of other courses for “Honors by Contract” credit.  For those courses, her teachers asked her to do additional and/or more ambitious work besides her regular requirements to earn the honors credit.

Even though she pursued this more rigorous course of study, she still managed to graduate after only one semester in her fourth year at UT.  Congratulations to Abby for her achievements!
