Cinema Studies grad Ben Murphy (’15) hired as Assistant Editor of Warner Bros. Lego Batman Movie

Ben Murphy, who won an American Cinema Editors Fellowship in January, has just been hired to work on his first feature film as an Assistant Editor.   He’ll  work with Editor John Venzon on the new Warner Bros. animated film, The Lego Batman Movie, which is scheduled for release in February 2017.

After he completed his fellowship work with the American Cinema Editors, which allowed him to assist with a variety of different editing projects in feature films, reality TV, scripted TV, and so on, Ben had to get experience working in non-union jobs for several months before he could be accepted into the editor’s union.   As of September, he’s become a member of the Motion Picture Editor’s Guild, which will get him health and work benefits and qualifies him to work on big studio projects.  The Lego Batman Movie will be his first full project, and we wish him well in the next step of his career.
